For this section of my NVQ I am going to research the trance music as it is a style that I, personally, enjoy listening to.
Origins
Trance music was first made in the 1980's. This first era of the genera was designed to emulate and synthesise an actual trance like-state. This first evolution of trance was very successful at the time as it was successful in many countries from Germany to Japan. The first sub genera of trance to emerge was vocal trance. This first version came into existence due to a successful combination of pop music and and progressive elements. Soon after the emergence of vocal trance another sub-genera, epic trance, began its time in the spotlight. This genera found its roots in classical music.
Since trance's peak - The 1995-2000's - the genera has split to suit different demographics; with youths preferring mainly instrumental trance and with adults mainly listening to vocal trance.

Major Sub-genera
Epic Trance or Uplifting Trance is a large sub-genera of trance music. It's origins can be found in Classical Music and Balearic Beat. It emerged in Germany in the 1990's. It's name is from the feeling that listeners get from listening. It is incredibly popular and has one of the largest audiences worldwide for dance music.Important Trance recordings, performances and events

An important recording of the Trance
genera is Halcyon by Orbital.
Written and performed by Orbital and recorded and released in 1992 (original

Another important recording of the trance genera is Reaching Out by Nero. It was recorded by the trio in 2011, with the assistance of Daryl Hall for the vocals. The track samples an arpeggio from the 80's Italian dance group Kano's song "Another Life". The song also heavily samples "Out of Touch" by Daryl Hall. Many people like this song but, due to Nero's low presence in the UK, it isn't super popular

A recent important recording of the genera of Trance is Shelter by American music producer Porter Robinson and French music producer Madeon. The song was released and uploaded to YouTube and most online music streaming sites on August 11th, 2016. The reason why this track is so important as its music video is a direct collaboration between A-1 Pictures (a Japanese animation studio) and Robinson. The music video is an original story written by Robinson, about a young girl who is put inside of a simulation to save her from a planetary impact. This track has received very high reviews from both music websites and animation websites. The video can be found at; https://m.youtube.com/watch?list=LLV0Q2zamlLITEaBl3iG2ijQ&v=fzQ6gRAEoy0
Trance is a globally popular style and
is found in abundance in most countries, however its global ‘Hub’ is found in
middle-eastern Europe (in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands). This is
because the style originated mainly from this area. An anomaly to this is Japan
as The style of Trance also appeared in this area. Most big Trance and other electronic
artist’s origins are found in Europe due to the large number of people living
in the area.
